Neue Hofburg at Heldenplatz

Welcome to the Neue Hofburg!

Rising proudly on Heldenplatz, the Neue Hofburg stands as an impressive testament to imperial ambition and visionary architecture. Originally planned as a magnificent residence for the ruling family, the monumental project remained unfinished despite decades of construction. However, the radiant marble Hall of Columns, the grand staircases, and selected state rooms still exude the flair of imperial grandeur today.

Take a stroll through the last grand residence intended for Empress Elisabeth and marvel at the rich artistic heritage of the Habsburgs.

Impressive exhibitions

Admire the rich, multi-facetted holdings of the Weltmuseum Wien, the spectacular Imperial Armoury, the splendid Collection of Historical Musical Instruments and the ancient world of the Ephesos Museum. A must for everyone interested in architecture, music, history, and cultures from all over the world.

The Imperial Armoury in Vienna is an extremely diverse and valuable collection of court arms and armour.

It holds around 3,800 objects, every one of them a work of art. The armour was created on the occasion of military campaigns, coronations, or marriages and served as a visible sign of the wearer’s status.
